India has diverse wildlife. There are plentiful of species of animals that live in this country. The animal I am going to talk about is a huge mammal who lives on land. It is none other than an elephant. I had my first encounter with this animal when I was a toddler.
I was playing on my terrace when I saw a man riding a huge, massive animal with two tails just outside my home. Initially, I was scared and I ran inside to my grandmother but then she made me understand that elephants are very calm animals who don’t attack people unless we do wrong with them. Then she took me out to take a better look at him and I was mesmerized by his massiveness and wrinkles. I was so fascinated that I didn’t realize when I came near him.
The person riding him offered a ride to me. When I was sitting on him, the person told me that the front tail of the elephant is called a trunk and it is the place from where they breathe. I had never seen anything like that and all that information made me wonder more about elephants. So I made it my mission to read everything about this animal.
My grandmother also helped me a lot. That’s when I came to know that elephants are rather intelligent land creatures who have a sharp memory and acoustic sense. They also share a strong bond with their family called the herd and there also the mother elephant teaches the baby elephant about everything just like in humans. I also got to know that elephants are worshipped in the Hindu religion and they are found in abundance in Indian southern parts. Overall, they are my favorite animal.
