Cell phones have become our extendable arm. It is impossible to think of a life without a cell phone. But there are many places where the usage of cell phones is not allowed. One such place is within a classroom. It was around a year back when I was taking classes for spoken English. The class had around 30 students and our teacher was taking our test.

There was an unspoken rule in class to keep the phones on silent or switched off till the time we are in the class. There was a deafening silence in the class as everyone was busy doing their paper. Suddenly my phone rang and everyone started looking at the source of the sound which was my bag.

Then I remembered that I had forgotten to turn off my phone. I cut the call and immediately turned it off. My teacher stared me down and took my phone. I was flushed with embarrassment. After an hour when I completed my paper, I took my phone back and checked the calls.

There were 3 more missed calls and all of them were from my cousin. I called her back and told her about the reason for not picking her calls. She understood. So this was one of many incidents where I wasn’t able to use my phone.
